The countdown begins..

A much quieter day thank goodness at the Palace, even if my insides aren’t cooperating yet. The Moloney, Aloni, Rita and Choca walk went without incident, except the usual stranglehold on Rita when a car went along the track. I did notice that she was limping near the end, we checked her paws, they were ok, but the Palace’s coworker spotted a cut in her skin above one paw. We only let her go on the short Victor walk after that. I should mention I found this broken but lovely outside Teak side table by the rubbish bins. It’s repairable, so it’s going to be fixed. Talking of the coworker, we are hoping the wood for the pergola in the house I am going to live in is going go to arrive very soon, so to allow him some time to put it up, I am going to work at the Palace Monday through  Wednesday next week, I have Saturday and Sunday off.

The countryside is still green, for now, but the heat is building up day by day. I have seen some amazing examples of plants growing in adversity, little ones in stone even. I hope to collect a few more seeds for my Sifnos friends before I go. After lunch, I lay next to Mavro, and often we were gazing into each others eyes, like lovers. He has black eyes, they remind me of the description Ian Fleming made of Blofeld’s eyes, in the Thunderball book. Deep dark pools.. Thankfully Buddy is now eating, we are hoping he is on the mend. The Apricots in the garden, might even be ready, or some will before I go.

We are a bit worried about Moloney, he can be a bit of a grumbler growler now and then, but now like Rita and Aloni, is now becoming much more attached to me, but not like Rita it has to be said. But he often comes along and rolls over , wanting cuddles, something he never did in the past. We are hoping me going away for two months, might reset things a bit, so there are no squabbles. Jabba, one of the owners house dogs, has been acting strangely recently, not wanting to return to her home house, and sleeping in very different places up at the Palace. It’s possibly a reaction to the heat maybe.

Finally just before the afternoon food came out, Rita came along and nuzzled right up to me and fell into a contented sleep. However as soon as she heard the noises of the food being put into the bowls, she left and went looking into the kitchen. I learnt a good new word in Greek today and it’s easy to remember, our word potable must come from it. The word is Poto and I instantly found the plural easy to remember. Two other words, I have tried to remember, for tired and order have been a bit trickier to remember, but I hope to have them remembered soon.
