Swimming along nicely
Although I know a lot of people enjoy the blog, it’s going to come to an end, for the summer at least on June 15th. What I do when I return here is unclear. The short form is good as it stops me spending too much time on the blog, but I wonder sometimes wether little and occasional might be best. Like today, there really isn’t an interesting story to tell. For sure I enjoyed myself at the Dog Palace but there isn’t a lot of news from even there. Mavro is hanging on by a thread, but he seems content to sleep near us when we are around and eat very little.
Unfortunately Buddy, the new guy who was always a bit wobbly on his feet, had some kind of problem yesterday and is even more wobbly and isn’t eating too good either. It’s very sad because he hasn’t had long up there, to enjoy his time in such a peaceful place. We hope he gets better and has a little more time.
Scoopy decided he liked the water flask after all, but Max and Fritz only went a short distance so did not need it. One thing we don’t like at the Palace are the flies. The dogs that are well, try to snap and catch them, but Mavro doesn’t have the energy to have a go at them. So they trouble him a lot. Rita now on a lead has given to protesting by sitting down unexpectedly during a walk, and staying there despite efforts to get her moving. But two incidents with cars meant I know I have her under better control on a lead, although she tries her best to escape my stranglehold on her when she sees a vehicle. We might try an desensitise her in Livadi one day. My car has been used for the last time to take us all to the Dog Palace, my friends car is being returned, hopefully fixed. I was going to give the rental car a good clean before I return it anyway.
I have been Swimming again, and I have managed a fairly feeble breast stroke, my feet were just kicking, the hands were doing ok, but probably not at the right place in the water and every so often I was rewarded by a mouthful of water when I do my breathing at the wrong point of the stroke. But progress is being made.
