Natural musings
Yesterday, the Dog Palace. Two humans and four dogs in the little car. It seemed a little less cramped. As we got to the track to the Palace the track had been renovated. Which means, as I have described before running a bulldozer over it and compacting the result with a steam roller. For the little car it was a dream come true, except they never do the little bit of the track that leads to the Palace from the main track.
Unbelievably Mavro looks even thinner than before, but is still getting about. I had my usual weepy moment with him in his den. He loves being cuddled and petted, even though you feel it must hurt him to even give that him. Later on after walking too far, I had to carry him back. Again it seemed painful to pick him up but he doesn’t seem to mind. The Aloni and Maloni walk went ok except on the return leg Rita saw some goats in the distance and high tailed off to them. I tried in vain to call her back. I had to give up. She came back eventually. From now on, she is on a lead. In fact on a later walk two cars were on the track, she would have chased them, but on the lead, I could restrain and hold her back. Seems a crazy reaction for a dog that spent her puppyhood walking along roads in Europe.
When I walked Scoopy, he lives in a pen on his own, as he reacts badly with the other dogs, we met Max and Fritz on the track. I was ready, I had him on a short lead and the reaction was pretty bad. That’s why he is on his own unfortunately. Buddy had another spell with the other dogs, and all too soon, it was time to go. The thistles are covered in butterflies now, I wondered what happens to them when all these flowers are gone, maybe they die to be replaced by pupa about to appear, after a fully grown caterpillar sheds its skin? Also I have not seen any caterpillars what do they eat?
I had cheese and ham toasted with neat cut baby tomatoes. See below. At the Dog Palace owners house, we watched another cruise ship plough its way across the sea between us and Sifnos as the full moon rose above the island. I will try my super zoom camera tomorrow. When I got back to the house, parking was a nightmare, it’s Pentecost weekend. This is what it is like in summer.
