Greek lesson

I haven’t really done much today, but I have been working on hard on the Greek. I wanted to double check my hair appointment today when in Livadi, so I found the Greek for that, in fact I knew most of it. The lady who cuts hair, fast but well, only charges, I think ten Euros and won’t accept tips from us men folk. But she doesn’t speak much English, I think she can do numbers, which is handy for appointments and such like. So I went in and bingo, she knew what I meant. Result.

The cats in the car park are diminishing, as they are going elsewhere for food, so the number of feeding bays is not so important now, but we will keep them all going as most are needing topping up each day. Only the David Bowie cat is being spotted, using my block of flats unfortunately, he uses the same one each day. When I went into Grans, I told them I was having a rest day, in Greek, and that I might be cleaning the house, which I did. One of the, girls said, in Greek I could clean her house and I said, “when” back in Greek. She did tell me the dancing I saw the other day, was actually from four areas of Greece including Serifos, and yes one was about a wedding. With all this hilarity I think they forgot to ask me  for money, there is a rule in Greece, I think, you sometimes see it posted up in shops, saying if they forget to charge you, that’s their problem! But I paid them. They are all working very hard now. When I popped into Markela’s for an ice cream, her husband helpfully told me the Greek word for ice cream, that’s one of tomorrow’s words, but phrases are the way to go I think. So I gave them a two Euro tip, they are always knocking off the cents on my bills anyway, I told them the extra Euros, was for the Greek lessons. They laughed at that.

Cactus cutting, with a new arm of its own.

Finally, I lifted the garlic up today, they are quite small, they were going to seed. I am going to give them to my friend as I have too much of it, to use. They might grow well on Sifnos, where the courgettes, are going rampant, they might have their first anytime soon.
