Copy Cat

A  couple of days ago this guy was in the Coffee Shop and I thought he doesn’t look Greek, and he wasn’t he is from Scandinavia. He has been coming here since 1975 and decided from day one, to go to the Coffee place every day to socialise and listen and learn the language. He has some really interesting insights into how things have changed and the Coffee Shop itself, it used to have a central stove and has been jazzed up over the years. The locals like for me, they all know him there and call him by his name.  Together we went to a talk about the pigeon houses of Serifos last night and then  for a super dinner at the Marina taverna with one of my Greek friends.

Last night the wind picked up and today Marinos told me this morning it was Beaufort scale eight. There were jokes about the Kings coronation and I told them I was not invited! It’s been interesting talking to my Scandinavian friend, comparing our countries, how they deal with modern issues like care of the elderly. I have been a bit busy recently, hence my break in writing blogs and I think in future I will be more sporadic. I have also had another few days feeding the three legged cat which really likes me visiting her and having a cuddle. But I don’t want a cat!

I seem to have sorted most of the Greek colours and have remembered the name for rain and will do the word for wind today. The plants I am growing for my Sifnos friends were in an open area last night but they survived by luck and are now carefully stowed away.

My new Scandinavian friend leaves tomorrow but will be back in the autumn, and I hope to see them when they do so. I am at the Dog Palace tomorrow for three days as my friend who set it up is in Athens.
