An Apple a day?

Last night I had a lovely meal with one of my Slovenian friends. Their partner will be here tomorrow. We had a meal at the Taverna, I first went to with other friends the other day. Before meeting at the taverna I bought some fruit for myself and spotted these apples, adorned with an Easter message, but why not in Greek? I met yet another friend before I got to the supermarket, one I will be seeing with yet another, outside the church in Karo Hora tonight. I found out today two more people I know will be there as well, watching things. It was good to catch up with my friend at the taverna, share  news, on what we have been up to. One of the things I like about all these people I know, is learning about them and their country and lives before they found this place. It’s very interesting how this island has drawn all these people to it, like a magnet.

Today at the Coffee Shop, it was very quiet. I had my Happy Easter in Greek ready, but after saying this to Marinos, I was told you don’t say it until Saturday. I got a mini chocolate egg and a sort of special biscuit which was nice as it was not super sweet. If I turn up with my reusable mug, Marinos knows I am going to the Dog Palace, so without it, I think he called it a day of rest for me, by saying  “no cats, no dogs”. I replied yes.

One of the guys who has a coffee in the shop, I have seen him empty the small bins near the shop, as they often get full before they get emptied. He lifts the black sack out of the bin, walks it to the nearby dumpsters and empties it, , bringing it back and putting it back in the bin. Good for him. I then showed Marinos that I was going to Malliadiko beach, and then walking to Kallogeros on foot. I am going with my Slovenian friend, after lunch somewhere in Livadi. Soon after a guy I met at the Greek National day who speaks good English turned up, he doesn’t often appear at the shop when I am there. Marinos said that he speaks good English in Greek, I don’t think he knew I knew this guy. We will take a few bags with us on our walk, in case there is any rubbish, I am sure  there will. An IT success here at last. I had looked into the Chromecast,  iPad and iplayer problem fir a friend. I had recommended a special
cable to connect the iPad to the TV and that seems to work well thank goodness.

The weather is going to be warm, with a stiff breeze. It should be a nice walk, I am going to do some crosswords, Greek and reading before I meet my friend.
