10KM record breaking Rita

There wasn’t much time, to spend in the Coffee Shop before my friend arrived in their truck to take me to the Dog Palace, but enough time using Google Translate  to tell them that yesterday, I had my first dip in the Aegean Sea and another first, my first swimming lesson. The next one is Tuesday. This looks like it might be a regular event. They said it must have been chilly, but Mad Dogs and Englishmen..

Rita and Choca

At the Dog Palace everyone was keen to see me, my popularity continues undiminished it appears. Although I haven’t worked on counting above ten in Greek, I have in my notes the numbers as they march  beyond it, it seems that once you get into the twenties and beyond you only need to remember the twenty, thirty and forty bit and say the one, two, three bit after it. I am at the revision section of the Michel Thomas course, after looking at some Masculine words and how they change depending on their stature in the sentence and also for example the word for ‘the’ that is used with them. Duolingo is doing clothes and plurals. But for fun, I decided to look at colours, in fact some of them are actually easy and I know why Mavro is now called that name, as he is black and Mavros is black in Greek. Some of the others that I know are pink, orange and red. White is easy, it’s aspro so I think of aspirin! Blue is ble, pronounced a bit differently. Brown is Kate, think of coffee. There is only yellow and green, that are a bit tricky, plus grey.

At the Palace, it was windy and cloudy, Rita who likes to be as close to me, every second of my time up there, decided she wanted to go on every walk that I did and had to be restrained not too, on the last one. She had already done ten km. The  elder statesmen also did well, both going on pretty long walks. At siesta time, I had Mavro around my legs and Rita in front of my chest. No photo to illustrate this unfortunately. No photo either of the superb lentil lunchtime salad dish, with two types of lentils, with other vegetables, flavoured wonderfully. I ate it all.

When we did one walk, there were clouds at our height, and the communication mask, did its disappearing act in the swirling cloud. The last walk, we went to the second mast, and had the usual lovely views as we had last time. Rita’s first walk with her buddy Choca, had us go down a new track and I have now found it on my map, it a bit far to go all the way down on it with these Dog walks, but it’s worth doing on my own some time. Tomorrow is another day at the Palace.
