Apple Pie

 Wednesday 29th March 2023

I had a bit of a disturbed sleep last night, so when I finally woke it was seven forty five in the morning. The small bedroom I sleep in is completely dark, so it’s not obvious when it’s light outside. When I walked down to feed the cats, I tried to cook up a bit of Greek to explain my late arrival at the Coffee Shop, but I decided to just use what Google Translate  came up with, I knew some of the words but the combination I had, might not have made sense! In any case Google’s effort worked, it was chilly out there which Marinos commented on. I showed him a photo of this Apple Pie given to me by the friend who runs the Dog Palace, I got it yesterday. It was very nice. The friend ran a hotel and a restaurant so is a very good cook. I knew the words for Apple pie and what to say about it coming from my friend who is known to Marinos.

The other thing I have resolved to do is try and say more at the Coffee Shop and elsewhere. This means having a few more phrases and words I can use. Not just the day of the week, which I am remembering. As I felt a bit sleepy,  I thought a second coffee was needed so I checked the words for that, I knew all of them except the word for another, which is a simple word. I went to the counter and asked for a second one, Marinos was surprised, I said it again to confirm the request. I must have cleared him out of the milk he uses to make the creamy cold cappuccino, he then went to the shop next door to buy another tin. I hope he puts the empties in the recycle container in the car park.

Finally after finishing off the second coffee I took my empty glasses to the counter, and told Marinos I would see him later, another phrase I want to be able to recall when I need it. I also told him I would be going with the Dog Palace  owner tomorrow.

I have been visiting beaches around the island doing litter picking, some aren’t too bad, but a couple worse, probably because of the wind and tides. We had some much needed rain last night, let’s hope for a few more downpours before summer starts in earnest.
