Cats and Dogs

 Wednesday 1st February 2023

So it is the first of a new month, “Good  Month” then. It’s actually an easy one to say, but unlike the daily greeting which starts “Kali”, this greeting starts with  “Kalo”.

This morning we had very overcast skies after rain last night, and at  ten am it was tipping down! This month could be the worst the winter throws at us! I was going to have lunch with my walking friend but as I have what might be the start of a cold and it’s not nice out there, we decided to cancel.

Today was my first day feeding the car park cats. I need to count, and start to get to know them, but there must be at least fifteen. There are two protected food bays, some small dishes and then some of the food is scattered on a low wall. It’s a bit of a hustle, there are some cats who are the bosses. Given the recent rain, I hope it all got eaten up before it poured down and got wet. Some of the cats  were wet from last night. There is a rusty truck and the cars in the park which they can shelter under I guess. I am thinking about ways I can improve the facilities!

I had some problems with BBC iplayer after a recent Safari upgrade. At least twice a night, the screen would stop and then I would be thrown back to the Apple login screen. I have installed Google Chrome for now and it seems to suffer the same fate unfortunately. On the TV front, my Sifnos friends watched with me a Christmas Special of  The Detectorists and since being back here, I have started with series one. It’s quite gentle, and fun.

Photo Interlude - yet another succulent seen today.

I did walk down to Livadi in the morning, but came back on the bus as it was raining very hard. I gave the monthly greeting to my friends at Grans, they asked me if we did something similar in the UK, which we don’t really. I have done my usual things today, Guitar, Greek and I had a chat with one of my friends on Sifnos. I did feed the car park cats again as they must have had a tough time of it in the rain.  I fed the other cats, there were two juveniles there this afternoon which is good. All the food is being eaten, I imagine imposters are helping themselves. It’s being kept dry which is good. It looks like the lady and daughter who used to feed the cat park cats had the same idea as myself, I saw the daughter again today and I said I was thinking of cooking them a meal, and they were thinking of doing so for me too. So that will be nice. The daughter said up in the mountain where the dog rescue place is, when we had rain, they had hail. I am not surprised. I have decided when to go back to the UK, provisionally in March, to do things on the house and visit some friends. A bit of a short one today, the cold seems to have gone, it’s a sort of a morning thing, which is quite annoying. Tomorrow should be a better day, a last photo of the two juveniles, for some reason, three feeding stations, but they wanted to eat together. Unfortunately I did not get to Marinos, I will go tomorrow.

Thursdays footnote, this morning, I seem better thank goodness.
