Sunday newspaper

So first a change to the way, these posts are going to appear. I have decided that I am going to post these in the morning before I go out. That means I can do a lot of the work on these in the morning, instead of rushing to get the post finished at the end of the day, when I am tired and other things need doing. I enjoy writing these, but I want to fit them in, so I fully enjoy my time here. As there is two hours between the UK and Greece these posts  will be a bit like a newspaper with yesterdays news in it ( not todays version of course)

Today, isn’t going to be an exciting post. It looks like today is going to be showery and as Grans and the supermarkets are closed in Livadi, I am going to have a rest day, I did walk quite a distance yesterday after all. I waited until the first shower of the day had blown over before feeding the cats. The juveniles are normally the only ones in attendance, the adults have moved upstairs to be with the friend who feeds another bunch up there, and they know my friend, as they used to feed them. But Moma was there this morning, reluctant as ever to eat. 

I got two lovely texts from friends in the UK yesterday, the first with a video of their lovely family Labrador and some news. She is a beautiful dog and the video had her messing about ice on the meadow up the road from us. I am looking after her the last week of my UK holiday.

The second text was from someone who is helping the friend who I used to do the taxi service for. Unfortunately her dog, has to go for a MRI scan for his back in February, but my friend is taking them all there. I have been sent a link to the Wordle game, suggesting I look at it. I had a go, but was not successful, I wonder. if they have a Greek version, that would be handy !

I did not get to Vasileas last night, I opened the door and it was tipping down, so I had a couple of glasses of wine at home instead. 

One mistake about this house is the colour of towels. White. Now it has been suggested I use the towel to clean myself and not wash properly, maybe with a white towel, that is more obviously so! But I have been trying harder, but after a couple of days, the white towel has usually gone a grubby brown. Just as well it’s normally easy to dry them. But I have a secondary problem now. Even with a long and pre wash cycle, a grubby mark is still present. I am about to try a different washing powder, so let’s see how that goes. A last problem with washing powder ( I find it more economical than tablets or the funny squishy things you put in the drum itself) is it absorbs the humidity and you end up with lumps in the box.I have two towels out in the sun now, I am keeping an eye on the weather of course!

It’s house cleaning day today, and I am going to do more Greek, I seem to have remembered quite a few of the ones from yesterday, and I hope to do some work on the letters too. This the guitar and Duolingo will keep me amused. During a dry spell or perhaps when I go to feed the cats again,, I might pop and have a coffee at Marinos.

I heard from the landlord, he is in Athens, I saw that fact confirmed on a Facebook post. He will change the led lights and the tap bits are on their way, he will get the plumber in when he returns.

 Saturday 11th February 2023 I have been thinking about this blog for a while now, even after changing the time recently, that I send each post out there. The main problem is the amount of time it takes to produce each post. It’s not just the time it takes to write it, but during each day, as I have a bad memory, I am constantly having to make little memos of things that are happening, what I see, do, what experiences I share with the people on this island.  Other problems or effects on writing these blogs are many and I don’t want to list them one by one, because that’s a negative thing to do and not useful at all. Reflections

Apart from keeping friends up to date with my Greek goings on, I have realised that this blog has been a good record  of my time here in Greece. I am a bit of an over thinker and often will spend a lot of time coming up with lots of what ifs and also brooding on bad things that have happened to me. So the point was to record the good things that happened here, as my brain will be good enough to recall the bad! Not that there has been a lot of bad to dwell on, it has to be said. The rat in the house was the low point but  I have been blessed with lots of encouragement from people here and abroad, for which I will be forever grateful for. I have met so many people here, who are now my friends, and I feel very accepted here, with all my quirks like picking up litter and walking everywhere.  So many things have been amazing here, in no particular order here are a few of them. Two patients

 It seems that one patient gets better and another gets worse at the Dog Palace today. On the phone to them last night it seemed Mavro was not long for this world, and the folks at the Palace did not know what to do, stay with him or come down to their house. As I was heading to Livadi via the ferry, I got a take away and took it up there, as they had no dinner up in the Palace. Mavro was pleased to see me, I felt good to see him, for maybe the last time. After dinner I stayed with him a bit longer but I then decided to leave him to rest. Here is a rose up at the Palace, the fragrance is amazing. The next day, I decided to go back up there, the other helper was doing the walking, so there would be time to spend with the dogs relaxing. Mavro was there at the gate and looking a lot chipper.
