Big Washing day
Saturday 28th January 2023
Today inexplicably, as if Hora knew I wanted to wash a lot of items, the wind is just a gentle breeze. So the sheets have been in the sun and wind and I have taken advantage to do my regular stuff as well. It’s bizarre as last night it was blowing a gale. On the way back from feeding the juveniles I went into Markelas and bought a bit more fruit. I thought it would be an idea to learn the counting, so as I bought two apples and two pears, her husband took me through it. He is a stickler for pronunciation and rightly so. There was a sort of delivery note on the pin board and he took me through the name, the locals here really want me to be able to understand them. The fruit came to something like two Euros eighty cents, the two Euros bit was easy but the eighty bit is much more complicated!
I heard from the car hire owner, he is liaising with the delivery guy, who works with him on the island. So hopefully a replacement car will be with me in the next few days.
Here are the two tubs with succulents I have grown from cuttings, the pots have tulips in them, but I think
they are not coming up now, unless they are waiting for a cool period, then a warm one to trigger their growth. The spring onions are finished, they never really did anything, it’s too windy up here I think. The onion sets and garlic I set last year, well the onions can be seen to be swelling up, as the garlic grow underground I can’t see why is going on. If they do well, maybe a return gift for Marinos? The garlic also have the cuttings from the Mountain Sourfig. You can see my recent huge cactus cutting.
Finally, a photo of the Red Thai chicken curry I have made for my friend, this time it seems to be edible, but let’s see what they think! The coconut milk in the tin had separated, I gave it a good mix before pouring in the pan.
