Short and sweet

 Wednesday 28th December

While occupying my usual position of stroking the dog, while typing this section in.. On the way to picking him up, for todays walk, I noticed two ships in port,  that I have seen on Serifos supplying aggregate and fuel for us and now they are  doing the same here.  While I was looking, the Artemis rolled in. Just by where my friends house is, I met one of the owners of the Margado hotel, which I stayed in the first time I came here, and we had a chat. Todays walk was with a friend, to the famous Catherine church the other side of the bay from here.

This is the view of St Catherine, which was a lovely walk, in the sun, it shining on that side of the bay. Unfortunately I had forgotten the flask of coffee I was meant to bring, so only the dog had a drink today. My friend bought some panettone with them, which was a nice treat after the walk. While we were there, the fuel ship left port, the aggregate one, was still being emptied. After walking back to the dog’s house, two of us had a video call with friends in Shrewsbury, and their two girls, grown up now, one with her husband ( recently married ) it was good to catch up with all their news, and share ours, there is the possibility the parents might visit Serifos and Sifnos next year. Meanwhile the dog cuddled down on the sofa.

After the call, we had lunch, our old favourite Courgette and Brie. We don’t need a winter warmer here, but it’s still a good soup. I was then on log duty, helping one of my friends chainsaw some logs into log burner dimensioned chunks. I can confirm I was not on chain saw duty. The logs stacked and nestled under a water proof cover, I left and came back here. The aggregate lorries are still trundling along this road. While we were cutting logs, we both reckoned we heard the Dionisios Solomos sneak in.

Tonight, it’s Cameron, might be the last opening day of this year, then tomorrow I might borrow the car and take the dog and the friend I walked with today somewhere different. I better remember to fill that flask…
