Lazy Friday day

 Friday 16th December

One of the things I look forward to every morning is pulling the blinds up on both windows and seeing what the day looks like. Today as you can see we got another lovely sunrise over Hora, but over the mountains there is a streak of cloud that is at the same height of them, and just hovering there. But not long afterwards, it got burnt off and we now have blue skies. The weekend is looking like it’s going to be really nice, in the twenties but after then very windy, and much much colder. We might only see ten or eleven degrees on one  day! My concern over the wind, is wether it affects my short Wednesday sailing to Sifnos. All might not be lost, if the sailing is cancelled, there is one I can catch in on the Friday, there appears one on Christmas day too!

Today has been a lovely day, I have just been lying on a towel on the roof, like I did when I got here! As I walked to feed the cats, I noticed this little flower in the concrete track, by the side of the house.

It’s interesting because the same flower is abundant elsewhere around here. This is a small example, most of the other ones have many more flowers. My succulent that I have had for ages is not looking so well, but the ones I took cuttings of, are doing really well. The onions are starting to swell up now too, and with this warmer weather, should continue to do so, the garlic are looking a bit spindly. The courgette and squash plants are looking very sad for themselves. Here is another plant, not sure if this is native, it was in someone’s flower trough.

One thing I want to do tomorrow is walk to Livadi by way of the reservoir  and go past the narcissus in the field and see if they are all out. They are not my favourite spring bulb, I like the little yellow Tete Tete daffodils ones best, or red tulips. After feeding the cats, I went shopping for a couple of things and did some Greek, and lay in the sun. I saw Vasileas in his Jeep yesterday, so he is back, so I might pop there tonight.

Sunday I am doing a walk with the friend that I did a walk with the other day, I have promised them a Thai curry using the paste I brought with me from the UK,  I am not sure if I will do that meal before I go away or afterwards.

It’s been a super day, and I know I am a lucky chap.

  1. It DOES sound a lovely day and I am glad you enjoyed it so much. Some people would take their luck for granted but you have the grace and the wisdom to appreciate it and be grateful for it! Sylvia
