I am doing something now ( Kano Kati Tora )

Saturday 10th December

Tomorrow is going to be a soggy day, and even going out in the car will be a soaking experience for me, as I have a couple of minutes walk to the car park, where I leave the car. I don’t park the car up  here for two reasons. The first is this track is on a steep slope  and where the car would be, there is no barrier between the edge of the track and oblivion into a ravine, if something bad happens! It’s also a bit of  good exercise for me, and that’s no bad thing. Because of the weather I had to get some lunch in, a loaf of bread and cheese. If it does rain all day, it means I will have no excuse not to have extended guitar and Greek learning, there are a few emails I ought to send too. Because I have the dinner date tonight, I don’t want to tire myself out, so a little walk to Livadi sounded just right.

On the way down the path, a friend from Twyford, sent me some texts, they have had a close family bereavement, I did not know the person who passed away, but it was good to hear from my friend, and despite everything happening to them, they wanted to hear I was ok and my news. Very typical of that lovely family. I don’t want to quote their exact words, but it made me think, how lucky I am, not having to make difficult decisions, wether to heat a house, or eat. I was just able to up sticks a come here. Best wishes to them.

Photo interlude - ferry coming in today

I went into the hardware store for new boots, but they don’t sell them, but the only garage, up the road is also a hardware store, and they do sell them, I was told. So I went in. Luckily my ancient boots still had a size label  on, and I was soon checking the new ones for size. I left the garage, new boots under my arm. I have also received a text from the person whose stray cats I am now feeding, I have the tracking number for their cat food parcel. I went into the travel shop and bought my ferry ticket for my outward journey, I can’t buy the return yet, as the schedule is not known! This is very normal! I the. went into Grans.

I had a sausage roll, but theirs has some tomato sauce in it which makes it even nicer. The deliver guy served me, he did not insist I say the word for the roll. I told him I can’t come to the Greek music disco, starting at eleven tonight, he said it’s the last one until February. I took my coffee and roll out onto the concrete harbour apron, to enjoy and listen to the Greek course, to try and get those last words stuck into my head. A ferry was coming in, so I went to take a look and do some more Greek there. On the way, what I think was the black cat from yesterday, started following me to the passenger shelter.

While in the shelter,  I changed my boots over, I threw the old ones away, they had holes in, so were not waterproof and the soles and heels were badly worn away. A friend rang me from Athens, it was good to catch up with their news.

I then walked to the so called slip road, I popped into a shop which is a small supermarket, ,where the beach properly starts, the store keeper was asleep inside, so I left him on peace. I walked back, to have a think what to do, I then walked back to the slip road, where the store owner was now outside and beckoned me.  He wanted me to help him pull his boat over to a safer place on the beach. After this, he got me to go into  his store, where he put a couple little cakes in a bag for my trouble.

I ate these one my way, when I got to Kato Hora, I decided to go a different way up to Pano Hora.

Here I popped into Markela’s and bought some bits and a bottle of wine for tonight. I saw one of the cats that I fed until last week. I then walked up my nice clean track to the house.
