Sunday is a day of rest
Sunday 20th November
This is a stray cat that I took a photo of last night, while walking around Hora with a couple of friends who live there. One of them, knew the town well and showed me a building which is very attractive but empty, it used to be the Spanish Consulate. Next to it was a sixteen century church. I had seen both of these but did not know the history of them both. Below is Serifos’s “Flatiron” building, which is built like this to fit it in the space available. I think it looked good in the dark.
We also saw a couple of frogs wandering about. The previous photo I took and posted wasn’t very good, it did not show the colours of the local amphibian very well.
This morning as I walked back to the house after feeding the cats, I met one of the UK folks, who are here for a month, off running again. It’s not windy at the moment and not hot, as it’s cloudy, so it’s probably good running weather. I saw Marinos’s wife getting his coffee shop ready yesterday, so it will be good to see him back after their stay in Athens. I saw on the Serifos Facebook group that they are installing an under sea power cable to Milos. The idea I think is to have our power coming from Milos instead of our local diesel generators. I can’t remember if Milos has several windmills, so maybe it just have a better power station than we do.
I removed a bit of rubbish on the bank by the car park today. Found another ten Euros. That’s sixty five I have got so far. Mind you I did give the fifty to Grans and that went into the Xmas tip box. I was in Livadi today and they were closed, which is good, they deserve a day off. It was easier to do the tidy up of the bank, as I wheeled one of the dumpsters to the bank and I could put the tins in the bottle bank. It looks like a lot of tins are going in there which is great.
I have been having the dehumidifier on the last couple of days, when it comes on it says the humidity is eighty percent and after an hour, it’s about seventy. I have no idea what the humidity is in houses in the UK, but after it’s been on for an hour, the house feels dryer if that makes sense.
This afternoon we did a short walk with the person who is looking after those cats, who got locked out of the house and a couple of other friends joined us too. We went down the road to the Wash house, there were more pools of water than when I last went there with Ronnie.
After a good look around, we walked further down and then walked up to Pano Hora by a way I don’t use, which was nice. We went into that building that I showed the painting of the other day, and there is another one, I may have seen it and posted it before.
I went home and got the cat food and went back to the feeding place. Both supermarkets were shut, early closing now on Sundays. While I was getting ready to feed the cats, a couple walked past, I had seen them before, and we got talking. Meanwhile Souvlaki was getting restless and I got a playful nip or paw on the back of my leg. Thank goodness moma was back, there was a persistent interloper who wanted the wet food, I had to keep chasing him off. Eventually moma did eat some. There was a very woe begone kitten and I gave it some wet food as I felt sorry for it. Meanwhile the kittens were playing!
While the couple were chatting with me, one of my friends, that I did the walk with today turned up, so we have all exchanged numbers. The new couple live in Livadi, now and then, they have not worked out how to live here yet, but want to. They reside in Athens. I hope we meet up again soon.

Sounds as if you are settling In well, Paul?
