Saturday, a quiet day

Saturday 5th November

Years ago, we went to South Africa and we stayed in Cape Town for a few days. Table Mountain was covered with a fleecy top of cloud nearly every day. When I looked out of the window today, our mountain here had a similar appearance, except of course it’s not got a flat summit.

So after a lazy start and after the guitar and Greek, I walked down to Livadi and met a friend at Grans. Chris turned up and we talked about the offer of the car. For sure buying, involves a lot of things, like tax, insurance, maybe renting might be a better way of doing it? Of course it’s like renting a house, you don’t end up with anything after the rental period ends. I did go and see Mr Blue Bird, I mentioned Chris, I think that might have got me a euro and fifty cents off the daily rate. In total It’s less than the price of the car. I have found out that until I get my AFME, I can’t buy a car,  although it doesn’t stop me renting.

The weather is windy again, and the claim is we will get fifteen millimetres of rain tomorrow. That is a lot, and I am hoping places like this dried up river bed, will have some water in it off the mountains after the downpour. Monday might see a bit rain, but nothing major.

Because the latest chapter on the Greek course is going so well, I have gone onto the next chapter. We are making up longer sentences now, which means I have to spend a lot of time thinking, what the words are and the order in which to say them. Luckily the next chapter has a word I know already, which is sygnomi, it means sorry.  The guitar, well I am trying some other two finger chords out of interest, they need you to hold strings that I haven’t had to hold down before. What I am finding is that, I am getting that finger interfering with other strings. It might be because the finger is bent to reach those new strings, and this causes the tip to be fatter! I ever tried running sellotape around the tip of the finger to make it pointy, but it did not help! I am going to try other ideas, or contact my guitar tutor on Syros.

I think as it’s going to rain tomorrow I will probably have a day off the blog tomorrow, as I don’t think there will be much going on. But of course on this island, you never know!
