Another busy, fun day

 Tuesday 15th November

Last night after taking the Mega Livadi photos I went to a new Taverna much further around the beach than the main Livadi town. There was no menu as such, he just told me what they had. I had a Greek salad and Mousaka, both which were very good. They were showing an old Greek black and white film in the TV. They will close in a month.

This is the Souvlaki place where the cats are fed. Their feeding station is just the other side the shop. I like the decoration of the place, it’s nice and quirky. Unfortunately the cats had to wait until eight today for their breakfast. I slept in, as I had a bit of a disturbed nights sleep. It’s nothing to do with being here, it’s just a phase I am going through at the moment, it started in the UK. The good news is the cats are warming to me, recognising me now, he who brings food!

On the way back I popped into Markela’s place, and saw Den. They are back from Athens. I saw him working in a field in Livadi, before they went away, he told me they have not had the land long, and grow grapes to eat. He planted the vines. That is where he has two dogs too. As some of the things I bought were for my breakfast, he taught me the word for breakfast, he takes a lot of care to explain the make up of the word, and the pronunciation. He asked what I was doing for Christmas and I said I was going to Sifnos for a few days.

It might sound a bit cheesy, but I put the Mega Livadi photos on the Serifos Facebook group, and said thank you all for welcoming me to their island. I know a lot of people who look at that group, then tell me   they can see where I am going. I really meant the thing about thanking people, I have had nothing but kindness from people, young and old. I met the primary teacher when I walked back from feeding cats today, and we had a little chat. I have had some very nice comments from the Facebook group, and possibly another English person living here? Time will tell!

This lunchtime I had a very nice lunch with the guy looking after the house cats I mentioned. After eating the meal, we met another friend of the person whose stray cats I am feeding. He likes Marina, and I would agree with him. He has a lovely dog, the guy is Italian, sadly going back there soon. ( but back in the Spring)  He has been here seventeen years. The taverna owners were putting up the Christmas decorations! We did walk down to Livadi, and I walked back, as I wanted to have the exercise. On the way back I met the friend with the shop, we walked back together, and I know now another way up Hora which looks very interesting. There is a building relating to the miners, we saw, that I will photograph next time I go that way.

In the evening, at six I go to the dentist, to have that tooth looked at. I have all but given up on the accountant, I might use my friends one on Sifnos. After then it’s to Vasileas’s place to meet a few people for a drink. Another lovely day.
