Sunday Morning walk
Hora and Livadi (2/10)
I am going to change the way I do these blogs. It’s going to be more like how other social media platforms are used, and not as I have been doing it, which was a bit like a daily letter write up. If do something like this mornings walk, if I have time I will write up a post. If other interesting things occur later on, I will post them too. Hopefully it will be a bit less confusing!
So last night, I did not leave the car in Livadi, we drove home. As it was getting windy, I thought we could do the whole of the reservoir walk. Sure enough it got very windy, last night I had left the umbrella up, so I decided to take it down in the middle of the night. Unfortunately I stubbed my little toe, it’s a bit bruised this morning.
With two bottles of water, one for each of us, we set off down the steps towards Livadi. As it was new territory Ronnie did even more scent laying than usual. Being very windy, Ronnie was not happy to start with, he doesn’t like the wind very much. On the way we saw this lovely little house in Kato Hora
Although the sun was up, it as around the corner and not shining on us. As I walked down I was thinking about cars here and the problems of climate change. A lot of them are what we would call old bangers. Mike’s car is an old Golf, it’s covered inside with Ronnie’s hair and it’s taken a couple of knocks. A few things don’t work. But given all the energy used to make the car, it’s probably best to use it as long as possible. It’s not a huge SUV, it’s not got a big engine and Mike doesn’t use it to go to work. I have seen one Tesla car here, given the amount of sunshine, sunshine powered buses, ferries and cars would all be good. Meanwhile there was a nice sky behind this church on the path.
We got down to Livadi in record time and we went down the slip road to the beach, as it is more interesting for a dog! Not that Ronnie was looking at the art. There are loads of cane plants here, likely homes for lizards maybe.. When we got to the beach the reason for the bridge was clear,
The sea obviously comes in quite far. We turned right and walked to the bakers. At the supermarket and bakery in Hora, they are not bothered by Ronnie coming in, but As soon as we were spotted, a splurge of Greek was aimed at Ronnie’s exclusion. I quickly retreated and went back, ordered a coffee and ham, cheese and tomato round shaped pie. We sat by the harbour and ate it. So Ronnie has a big bottle of water and myself, the dog decorated one. Every time we went uphill, I stopped and gave him water. He decided he liked the pie. The new bus timetable has not appeared for October yet.
After our break, we walked back along the length of the beach and then went inland, towards the reservoir. This bit was uphill, but Ronnie was going faster than me. In the wind, his floppy ears were being blown upright. When we crossed the reservoir the metal fencing was singing in the wind, Ronnie wasn’t too keen on that. There was more uphill bits towards the church and graveyard. More water stops. A lizard ran across the path, Ronnie lunged for it, but it was gone. Just by the church, the cows were there, but fenced in for once. Ronnie took a look. There was a nice framed photo of Hora, the church and graveyard.
