So the packing continues. I have been trying as time passes on, and as I do things like cut my nails, make sure that I have that item to take to Greece. I can’t raid the house here, as Hazel will be back in the Autumn and we will both be here in the Spring. Things like nail scissors. I have also bought myself a torch. I am going to check my chargers, for the phone and iPad. One thing that I must not forget is the walking boots. In the spring in Greece this year, I found them very useful as when I went on walks, the paths were wet and slippery.
There are three main mobile suppliers in Greece, Cosmote who are a bit like our BT, Vodaphone and Wind. Cosmote are not perhaps the most revered vendor, but I know their coverage was good on Serifos and I can’t find any good data about the other vendors coverage. So I thought I would get a Cosmote sim, there is a shop near my hotel in Piraeus. Mike contacted me about this Vodaphone plan that uses a nifty box that connects to your phone which acts as your wifi router and it’s about half the price per month of what the landlord wants to charge me fir wifi. Something to look into!
Ironically Hazel and Mike have had their autumn covid booster, but it’s not the type just approved in the UK, which covers Omicron. At some point when I get my biometric pass, I think I can try and get my booster over there.
I have spoken to my GP and have managed to secure and order of three months of most of my prescriptions, the only one that I got a shorter supply, I am going to try and wean myself off.
This week I have been looking after the chocolate Labrador on our road while her family are in Greece. Somehow she has managed to dip the tip of her tail in wet paint, not surprising as the house is being painted! We have done some nice walks and been around Charvil lakes and visited the local River Ford by a pub with another Labrador and his owner. We have also visited the Cocker Spaniel puppy and been to Henley. Being in her house, takes my mind off the pile of items lurking in the spare bedroom at home. I will have a last, longer sit in Shurlock Row just before I leave.
I have decided to leave the freezer on and pack the empty space in it with paper and cardboard. I will fill it with things Hazel might need when she is here later in this year, so she doesn’t have to carry things from the shops.
I had been holding off sending the party invites to everyone until the contract comes. But I decided to send all the invites out anyway. Oh yes no contract!
I have been listening and trying to learn new Greek words so I sound a bit more impressive when I arrive on September. The problem I have is I have to keep using these words, else they get forgotten. So over here, as I don’t know any Greeks it’s all a bit difficult.
One negative side of the upcoming move, is anxiety. I used to get it at work and it’s back. I was waiting for it to make an appearance. I tend to overthink situations and concentrate on the negative side of things. It’s all a bit silly, as if this doesn’t work, I just come back. But at two in the morning, the simple facts often elude us. What is interesting is the chocolate lab, a day ago, when I was feeling very rough, she jumped on my lap and gave me a big lick on my ears. She is not overly affectionate, but I think she knew what was needed. She then pestered me for her walk, and as we all know walking if good for your mental health. I spoke to Mike and Hazel today and they gave me a lot of support. I also went around Charvil lakes again with a friend and her lovely cocker spaniel. She is also obsessed with the water. I think having that sit before I go will be good for me.
